Most tourists hurry out and back on sterile day trips just to snap a photo of the Vardzia cave town before rushing back to the city. We bypass that artificial rush, leaving the crowds behind to explore the massive, forgotten fortresses and ancient tunnels scattered across the desolate plateaus.
Tmogvi Castle Grapevines

Beyond the canyon, the misty ridges of the Tori mountains offer an intense, isolated hiking experience free from other travelers. The route tracks through forgotten forests to find unmarked hot springs and the alien-like Stone Man of Uraveli, one of the last surviving pagan idols in the country.
